Education
Bill Wyrick is a founding member of Cafardi Ferguson + Wyrick, with 30 years of experience serving as legal counsel in a wide range of business and business litigation matters. Bill represents individuals and businesses (both plaintiffs and defendants), in a variety of business advice, corporate governance and litigation matters, such as breach of sales and employment contracts, injunction matters seeking enforcement of restrictive covenants, breach of asset and stock purchase agreements, shareholder disputes, securities litigation, insurance coverage and declaratory judgment matters and commercial leasing and other land use matters.
Like many of his clients, Bill is also a shareholder and director of a family-owned business outside the practice of law and is very familiar with the business concerns and legal issues facing privately owned companies. Bill’s legal and business experience, and talent for seeing both sides of every dispute, allow him to obtain prompt, cost effective and practical solutions to his clients’ business disputes, allowing them to focus on what makes their business successful. He takes great pride in being a part of the Western Pennsylvania business community and, in particular, helping his neighbors’ businesses flourish. Here’s how he does it:
Bill has successfully tried cases to verdict before juries in state and federal courts throughout western Pennsylvania and has prevailed on a number of appeals before Pennsylvania and other states’ intermediate and supreme appellate courts. Bill has also served as national and regional litigation counsel for several large manufacturers of consumer and construction products, appearing in state and federal courts throughout the nation. He has represented clients in well over 100 mediations and arbitrations.
In addition to Bill’s representation of clients in connection with their business disputes, he is experienced in advising clients in the formation of their business entities, the review and drafting of corporate governance documents, start-up financing arrangements for new and emerging companies and the review, negotiating and drafting of contracts in the fields of manufacturing, service, consulting and software development.
As a trained mediator, having completed the American Arbitration Association’s 40 hour mediation training program, Bill now offers his talent for being able to take clients for a walk in the other side’s shoes, to both sides of a dispute who want and need a mediated, self-determined resolution, rather than protracted litigation in which it often seems that only the lawyers win. Whether such a resolution involves a cash payment in a personal injury matter, or a more sophisticated business solution, Bill employs those techniques necessary to bring both sides together to end the dispute. So if your settlement talks have stalled, call Bill to jumpstart the negotiations and get you to your mutual goal.
On the personal side, Bill grew up in Vermont and moved to Pittsburgh in 1990 to attend law school after his graduation from the University of Vermont. He earned his law degree from Pitt Law in 1993. He now lives in Oakmont while his teenaged twins attend college. Bill served as a member of the parish council of the Oakmont Greek Orthodox Church for over fifteen years, including a three-year term as its president. In his spare time Bill enjoys golfing, skiing, mountain biking and hiking, He also enjoys the Pittsburgh sports scene and other athletic activities that let him enjoy the company of his family and friends, even if it is just sitting in the stands or in a stadium chair cheering on the current season’s youth sporting event.
