Associate Litigation Attorney

Full Job Description

CFW+W, an established business law firm based near Wexford, PA, seeks a full time litigation associate. This position will provide meaningful experiential opportunities to: perform substantive legal research; drafting legal memoranda, briefs and pleadings; accompanying attorneys to court and practice and career development observing best business, scholarly and ethical practicecs.  The Associate will be provided training by the Firm’s principals and senior attorneys.  The Firm is committed to a fulfilling, courteous, mutually respectful work environment and to the observance of best practices and excellent legal representation.  The Associate will be provided with all computer, and other technical tools needed and a private office.  The Firm is fully equipped with the technological capability to facilitate remote work as needed or preferred. 

Qualifications:

  • Education – Juris Doctorate Degree
  • 2 years relevant litigation experience
  • Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and in good standing

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assignments as directed by attorneys within the Firm involving legal research, drafting, organization of exhibits and other documents, attendance at depositions and hearings within local magistrate, state and federal courts.
  • Interacting with clients of the Firm;
  • Proficiently use computers, including Microsoft Office Suite, for correspondence, research, reports, and email communication;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Observe best practices, excellence in legal products and maintain a mutually respectful work environment.
  • Primary fields of law include:  commercial civil litigation; real estate litigation and transactions; estate planning and administration; corporate law.

Other Duties of the Job:

  • Adhere to and promote positive interactions with Firm attorneys, staff co-workers, clients and Firm vendors;
  • Limited travel may be necessary for filing in state courts or retrieving documents; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Physical Demands Typical of this Position:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk 75% of the time
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with agents, co-workers, clients and prospects. Must be prepared and able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Constantly uses hands and fingers for typing, writing, etc.
  • Occasionally reaches with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lifts 5-10lbs.

Working Conditions Typical of this Position:

This position operates in a professional office environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Law Clerk – 3L to Associate Attorney

Salary: $28/hour – Part Time (± 15 – 20 hrs per week)

This position is intended to lead to a full-time associate position with the Firm.  The Law Clerk will have meaningful experiential opportunities to: perform substantive legal research; drafting legal memoranda, briefs and pleadings; billing for some of the work; accompanying attorneys to court and other legal proceedings as available; and performing other administrative and clerical duties,. The Clerk will be provided training by the Firm’s principals and senior attorneys.  The Firm is committed to a fulfilling, courteous, mutually respectful work environment and to the observance of best practices and excellent legal representation.  The Clerk will be provided with all computer, and other technical tools needed and an office or other dedicated work space.  The Firm is fully equipped with the technological capability to facilitate remote work as needed or preferred.
